"I looked over at my 15 year old daughter as our doctor said: 'anorexia'. My heart sank and I thought: ''what did I do wrong? How had a failed her?'

What I discovered from Ann is that there is no reason or person to blame for this insidious disease. It is a complicated mix of emotional, biological and psychological factors. Through Ann's help, I disengaged myself from Clare's eating behavior and focused on a healthier relationship with her.

I realized I had no control over Clare's behavior and the only person I could change was me. This was the beginning of the recovery process, for Clare and our family."

NEUROFEEDBACK: TREATMENT FOR PAIN AND THE “FOGGY BRAIN”

OK, let’s get real about women’s health issues: We’ve got some health issues that leave our brains “foggy.” Not the most clinical term, but we hear women all the time talk about how “my brain just doesn’t work right sometimes”. Problems such as: Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), post-partum depression and Chemo-Brain cause us all sort of physical problems; AND brain dys-regulation. There are medications, herbals, hormones, and other treatments out there, many with good results. AND neurofeedback might be worth considering as an additional treatment. IBS, suggests “irritability”. Fibromyalgia suggests “anxiety and depression”, PMS suggests “bad mood” and PMDD suggests a “dysphoric or unstable mood”. Chemo kills the cancer and can create a whole host of other problems. We have heard more than once: “we can rid the body of the cancer, but now we cannot think clearly, remember anything, make decisions, or stop our mood swings.”

Often, women, and men, and their physicians minimize the impact of these problems on day to day functioning and activities. These symptoms should not be ignored, and we recommend you talk with your doctor about treatment and consider alternative, adjunct therapies to help. At the Hull Institute, we are not MD’s, even though we work closely with them. We cannot guarantee that neurofeedback will solve your problems. We do, however, have testimonials that it helps. Really, our goal is to help you relieve your symptoms in order to feel and function at your best.
