Binge Cycle

In the beginning, binges may be less frequent, with some periods of feeling better and even some periods of feeling “normal.” As the cycle continues over the years, the bingeing spirals out of control. As the binges get larger and/or more frequent, the enjoyment during the binge is lost, the guilt and shame last longer, or there becomes no period of calm or contentment. Health deteriorates and depression may set in. This is when people become “sick and tired of being sick and tired” and finally seek help, not just a diet.
